“The Pittsburgh LANXESS office has a family kind of vibe. People are friendly and willing to help each other and you can feel the sense of community in the company that I think is reflective of the spirit of our city.”
Leanne Trevelline, a Beaver Falls native, stayed in the region after college because she felt like everything she wanted was already here – so why leave? After graduating from La Roche College with a degree in communication, media and technology, she was faced by a national recession and a tight job market: “2006 was a tough time to find a job so I started with a temp agency and proved my worth through my work. For anyone struggling to find employment my advice is to network and be as well-connected as you can. You’ll often find opportunity in unexpected places.”
Leanne found her permanent footing with LANXESS – a leading specialty chemicals company with its Americas headquarters in Pittsburgh – and after 11 years with the company, she now manages Market & Brand Communications for the North America region. She credits her tenure with the company to the multitude of development opportunities that kept her work interesting and allowed her to grow professionally. A Germany-based company, Leanne has the opportunity to travel to international offices and all around the U.S. for trade shows and events, but maintains international relationships from the Pittsburgh office. “LANXESS is a great fit for me because the global footprint gives me the opportunity to engage with people from different countries and cultures daily. It often feels like being out there in the world, but from the comfort of home.” Keeping up with the needs of a diverse base of customers can be challenging, but motivates Leanne to be innovative and continuously learn about the company and its products.
When she’s not working to impact the positioning of LANXESS in the market, she enjoys spending time outdoors and taking advantage of the many amenities that kept her in southwestern PA. Situated in Imperial, PA, Leanne lives in the “sweet spot” between the city and her family, making everything and everyone easily accessible. Leanne loves to stay active, walking and jogging with her dog Penny on the Montour Trail or heading up to McConnells Mills for a day hike. One of her favorite activities is going to shows at Stage AE where she can enjoy live music all year round at the multi-stage venue: “You can’t beat the city view and atmosphere of a summer concert outside.”
“I think what makes Pittsburgh great is that there’s something here for everybody – if you’re into nature, health and fitness, the arts, sports, dining, there are plenty of options for all of that. And it’s affordable. I think compared to a lot of other cities, you get a lot of bang for your buck here.”
