"We love going to innovative new restaurants that others haven’t discovered yet."
As a senior account executive in commercial insurance at Henderson Brothers, Inc., Jared helps to mitigate risk and liability for large corporations with specialties in the education and aviation industries. So it might be surprising that he and his wife, Lizz, bought their 100+-year-old row house in Bloomfield without ever stepping foot inside. Frustrated by coming in too late in several fast-paced bidding wars for homes there, and with lots of family growing up in the nearby neighborhoods to help, Jared figured this was a calculated risk worth taking. And he was right.
After gutting and completely renovating the house with all new wiring, plumbing, a new kitchen and master bedroom and baths, the couple have moved in with no regrets. They love the convenience of Bloomfield and nearby Lawrenceville's amenities, and its proximity to their work and community service. Lizz is a cardiovascular perfusionist at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, and he works downtown.
Outside of work, the couple keeps a breakneck pace. In addition to spending time with their young son, Ace, Jared serves on the boards of Attack Theatre, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Partners Membership Program and The Pittsburgh Police Foundation. The couple regularly attends performances sponsored by both, as well as those of the Cabaret Theatre and the O’Reilly Theatre downtown.
They run on city streets and trails, and they play in four softball leagues through PUMP’s Pittsburgh Sports League and other nonprofit leagues. That’s semi- serious business for Jared: his father and great uncles all played Major League Baseball. So the location for Jared and Lizz’s wedding was not so surprising: the Roberto Clemente Museum in Lawrenceville.
