With its main campus located in Youngwood, Westmoreland County Community College has six off-campus education centers that serve the Westmoreland, Armstrong, Greene and Indiana counties. WCCC offers year-round degrees, programs, and certificates, and its ShaleNET job training program is highly regarded. ShaleNET program director Dr. Byron Kohut met with President Obama, and the program itself received the 2013 Exemplary Program Award from the National Council for Workforce Education, as well as having been nominated for a national award of excellence by the American Association of Community Colleges. These programs include certificates in Natural Gas and Oil Technology, Mechatronics System, Industrial Electricity, Occupational Health and Safety, and Petroleum and Industrial Process Operations Technology, and can be completed in one semester or combined with others.
