Public Schools in Allegheny County

(Outside of the City of Pittsburgh)

Allegheny County, of which Pittsburgh is the county seat, has 42 suburban public school districts. Among those whose seniors averaged cumulative SAT scores 1600 points or higher in 2010-2011 are Fox Chapel Area, Hampton, Mt. Lebanon, North Allegheny, Quaker Valley and Upper St. Clair school districts.

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit serves as a liaison for the suburban schools to the state Department of Education, and is a great resource for K-12 information.

T.J. Crawford

“We can really see a difference in the quality of the schools here. Our kids do more in a day than they did in a week before.”
