PPG Place, also known as the “crown jewel” of the Pittsburgh skyline, is a stunningly beautiful 6-building complex adjacent to market square in Downtown Pittsburgh. The buildings are known worldwide for their gleaming glass and steel facades as well as their castle-like rooftops. They are truly a breathtaking sight to see; either as a native Pittsburgher, a tourist, or a recent transplant to the city. PPG Place is home to both the Wintergarden and the popular ice skating rink that shows up every year around the holidays while also hosting a choice selection of retail shops, an abundant food court, and some of Pittsburgh's most prestigious firms.
PPG Place experiences the most excitement during the winter season when Pittsburghers flock to the dazzling glass-encased plaza to view the famous Christmas tree on Light Up Night, to go ice skating at the rink, to check out the gingerbread house display and competition, to take in the splendor of the holiday season by visiting the Spirit of Giving From Around the World exhibit, or to enjoy free horse-drawn carriage rides through Market Square.
This amazing multi-purpose complex and plaza serves as a popular locus of culture, fun, business, and social interaction in Pittsburgh's Downtown urban landscape. While emanating a vision of grandeur and sophistication, PPG Place welcomes all denizens of the city as well as visitors to pass their time within the court of the great glass castles.
