The O'Reilly Theater is the fourth theater project of The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and the fifth Cultural District theater. The O'Reilly is the Trust's only theater that was constructed with two purposes in mind: to create a Downtown home base for the Public Theater and to create additional venues for theater, music and other performances. Designed by world-renowned architect Michael Graves, the O'Reilly is the only Downtown performance venue that features a thrust stage, surrounded by the audience on three sides. There are 650 seats, accommodated by state-of-the-art theater technology. Officially opened since December of 1999, the O'Reilly Theater is a $25 million project that continues to serve city-goers and culture-seekers in the Pittsburgh region.
