The MSA story is a compelling one -- to say the least. In 1912, a tragic explosion at the Jed Mine in West Virginia inspired John T. Ryan and George H. Deike to form MSA, a company founded to protect workers from life-threatening hazards in the workplace. The first order of business was to enlist Thomas Edison to invent MSA's first product, an electric cap lamp, which provided miners with a revolutionizing way to navigate through the dark mines safely. Nearly 100 years later, thousands of products, hundreds of patents and a global reach across 42 international locations, MSA steadfastly carries on the crusade to protect lives.
Driven by our passionate mission, MSA associates thrive in an innovative and collaborative work environment, and these teams strive to go beyond the call of duty to ensure our customers can too. Because at MSA, we work to protect the lives of firefighters; military personnel; construction, iron and steel workers; oil riggers; utility workers; law enforcement officers; miners; consumers and hundreds more.
