Leading the Industry. Building the Region!
Established in 1886, the Master Builders’ Association of Western Pennsylvania (MBA) is a member-driven association committed to improving the construction industry. We provide valuable member services, promote best practices and help to grow a highly skilled workforce. The contractor members of the MBA account for over 80% of the commercial construction built in our region. The following principles guide our work and define our mission:
Accountability – Our members stand behind their work and hold each other to a higher standard.
Integrity – Our members believe that ethical and honest practices underpin all that we do.
Innovation – Our members embrace breakthrough practices that position them for the construction industry of tomorrow, while honoring our rich 125+ year legacy.
Mentorship – Our members believe in preparing the next, diverse generation of construction leaders for success.
Quality – Our members build the highest caliber projects providing for optimum use and the highest value for owners.
Safety – The health, safety and well-being of every individual in our industry is the cornerstone upon which our members build.
Skilled Labor – Our members believe that highly trained craftsmen and women are vital to creating a world class construction experience.
To carry out our principles, which fulfills our mission of being the Voice for the Western Pennsylvania construction industry, we rely on people. From professionals with expertise in finance and legal to human resources and marketing to engineers and superintendents, it’s the people that make the MBA and our region’s construction industry exceptional.
We are committed to our community and we are dedicated to producing buildings that are healthy places to live and work. Our membership is responsible for the construction of over 90% of the square footage of LEED Certified Buildings in the Pittsburgh region. We show our commitment to the community by supporting local organizations, like Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh, The ACE Mentor Program and the Mario Lemieux Foundation, to name a few.
The MBA hosts a construction career center in hopes of attracting talented individuals who share our principles and our commitment to the community. Visit our website to learn about career opportunities in our region's construction industry.
I think we have everything we need in Pittsburgh and people are friendly here."
