Mass Transit: Buses

The Port Authority of Allegheny County operates, maintains and supports the immediate Pittsburgh region's transit needs with via its fleet of 700 buses and 83 light rail vehicles ("the T"), as well as the two inclines and paratransit services for approximately 215,000 daily riders.

Port Authority also sponsors ACCESS, a door-to-door, advance reservation, shared-ride transportation program that primarily serves seniors and persons with disabilities.

There are transit authorities in outlying counties that also offer service to their communities and in some cases to and from downtown Pittsburgh
