Opened in 2001, Heinz Field serves as the home field for both the beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and the University of Pittsburgh football team, the Pitt Panthers. It is located on the North Shore, just across the river from Point State Park and boasts a beautiful view of Pittsburgh's Downtown skyline.
The stadium seats 64,450 people and offers an especially intimate fan experience during the game because it was designed to get people closer to the field without obstructing anyone's view. The first row of seats on the east and west sides are approximately 55 ft. from the sideline, while the north and south ends are about 25 ft. from the back of the end-zone. The upper deck is stacked and overlaps the lower deck, bringing the fans in the upper deck seats closer to the field. There are 32 concession stands at Heinz Field (beware, it is cash only). Additionally, there are seven team stores and 15 novelty stands to pick up favorite Pittsburgh football gear. There are over 400 television sets in Heinz Field and two video walls. The scoreboard video display measures 48 feet by 27 feet at a minimum. It has a 96-foot by 27-foot expansion capability. In addition to being a premier football stadium, Heinz Field also serves as a venue for many huge events that take place in Pittsburgh throughout the year.
