Hartwood Acres is an Allegheny County Park consisting of 629 total acres. Hartwood is considered the most prestigious of the county's 12,000-acre network of nine distinct parks. Preserved within the park is one of the largest and most spectacular country estates in the region. Hartwood consists of a Tudor Mansion (erected in 1929) cottage, stable complex and gate lodge. Designed by Alfred Hopkins for John and Mary Lawrence, the mansion houses an impressive collection of original English and American antiques. Visitors can stroll through the elegant gardens, hike or horseback through the heavily wooded trails, or cross-country ski depending on the season. Visit the farm and stable complex, appreciate the sculptures or see a concert under the stars at the amphitheater. Hartwood Acres has something special for everyone. It is the perfect place to host a wedding reception, a corporate gathering, or simply to spend the day exploring.
