The Duquesne University Small Business Development Center provides small businesses and potential start ups with no-cost consulting and inclusive workshops to help round out efficient business plans. The SBDC offers assistance with management, global trade, environmental and energy strategies. It also offers specialized consulting for technology firms. Its workshops span a multitude of topics and skills, including advertising, business and financial planning, marketing strategy and technology development. The SBDC has benefitted several companies, including the video production company Orionvega, which managed to thrive during the recession.
