Church Brew Works is an award-winning microbrewery and restaurant right where the neighborhoods of Lawrenceville and Bloomfield meet. The restaurant is in a completely renovated church, formerly known as St. John the Baptist Church. As much painstaking effort was taken in the original construction of the building, the same care was used when the renovation of the church and the rectory was undertaken. Attention to detail and the reuse of existing fixtures all help to create a truly unique drinking and dining atmosphere. Original pews have been made into tables, the original Douglass Fir floors have been restored to their reddish-orange hue lighting up the dining area and the original eight lanterns in the center bay were removed, repainted gold and re-installed after complete refurbishment. The lanterns now illuminate the detailing of the ceiling. By far, the most alluring element is the position of the brew house on the Apse. Because the altar was built as a centerpiece of the church, the steel and copper tanks gleam in the blue backdrop making for an awesome focal point in the restaurant. Brew Works features 4 specialty beers made by their expert brewers. Try their North German Style Pilsner, Bavarian Dunkel, British Special Bitter or the rotating Blast Furnace Stout.
