Bricolage Theatre

The mission at Bricolage is to, “immerse artists and audiences in adventurous theatrical experiences that foster connections and alter perceptions.” Their approach encourages artists to take whatever means necessary to, “create full-blooded, high-quality theatrical experiences that challenge audiences to engage in new ways, react, and express openly their opinion about our work – to have a stake in the creative discussion.” The word Bricolage means, “making artful use of what is at hand,” and this company does just that by taking the unique elements of the Pittsburgh region and using them to create experiences where the audience feels a heightened sense of involvement. By using the city's changing landscape, plentiful human and material resources, and the salient political, cultural, and ethical issues at hand, Bricolage induces a connection and interaction between seemingly discordant elements to create a cohesive and exciting theatrical event. Bricolage seeks to nourish local talent, produce provocative work, and facilitate audience engagement to revitalize live performance for a new era.
