The Benedum Center for the Performing Arts is a Pittsburgh Cultural Trust theater and a prominent part of Downtown Pittsburgh's cultural district. It is the gateway to Broadway and theatrical merriment for Pittsburghers abound. It sits on Liberty Avenue and boasts a beautifully illuminated marquee over the entrance to display the newest shows being performed. This 2,800-seat theater houses Pittsburgh Cultural Trust presentations including PNC Broadway Across America, Pittsburgh Dance Council, CD Live, Pittsburgh International Children's Theater, Cohen & Grigsby Trust Presents, and First Night Pittsburgh.
The Cultural Trust also provides priority programming dates at the Benedum Center to Cultural District resident companies including Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and the Pittsburgh Opera. The center is also available on a rental basis to promoters and community groups who are interested in using the space.
The Benedum Center is poised to host some big name shows in the future such as Disney's The Little Mermaid, The Lion King (also being offered in an autism-friendly version), Wicked, The Nutcracker, and Celtic Thunder. When going to a show at the Benedum Center, take advantage of everything else the Cultural District has to offer.
